IP Surveillance is not years away, It is here and now.

This includes all IP-based security solutions such as IP camera, video server, etc.

Unless the traditional CCTV installers make this switch now, and become competent with this technology, we expect the entire face of surveillance to change. We commenced research into this technology about 18 months ago and must say that developments have mirrored exactly our forecasts for the market.

At that time we adopted the premise that surveillance would rapidly move to IP systems, That traditional manufacturers of network equipment -D-Link, Cisco, etc would move into manufacturing of surveillance equipment, parallel to existing network lines. This scenario made it apparent that IT Technology companies, would suddenly find themselves in the most favourable position to exploit the IP Surveillance trend - at the expense of traditional CCTV installers.

IT companies are already in the door - in a large way when it comes to network provision, they already have the support contracts in place for the large networks, and they already have the agreements in place with the IT manufacturers. It is logical that companies will seek to build their IP surveillance onto existing networks , that they will approach their existing IT providers to do so, and that those providers will most conveniently source IP Surveillance equipment through their existing suppliers - D-Link, Cisco - etc.

At the time of concluding our reports, we saw a surveillance world in which the traditional CCTV installer would find doors closing, and that surveillance would become an IT function. TESC then undertook specific projects to intergrate IP Surveillance into our offerings - not just by supplying IP cameras, but by integrating IP Solutions into our existing offerings.

There are many “IT companies” starting to supply a wide variety of IP Cameras and equipment. Many of the cameras are based on cheap sensors and are totally unsuitable for serious surveillance. 18 Months ago we adopted the mandate to establish a range of IP cameras that would rival or exceed the performance of the existing analog surveillance camera.
