C mount lens has been used for years that refers to the type of screw thread on the lens. C mount lenses are comparatively large, and as the size of CCTV cameras continued to reduce, it was necessary to have a more compact lens that CS mount lens was developed.
CS mount types suffer greater optical distortion because nearly all of the glass area is employed. The main difference between two lenses is the distance from the back of lens to the image device. For C mount, it is 17.5mm. For CS mount, it is 12.5mm only.
